This tour is wheelchair accessible. Please note, however, that there is a smooth- albeit steep- ramp that leads down into and out of the cemetery. It can be a challenge for some to get back up this steep ramp at the end, particularly if the individual in the wheelchair is quite heavy and in a non-electric wheelchair. We mostly follow a flat path, but we occasionally come a few paces off the path onto mostly flat grass.
We've had guests in wheelchairs before and it's been no problem; we are always more than happy to lend a hand wherever it is needed.
For those with mobility issues, this tour is a non-strenuous walk, however, it does involve some walking and time on your feet listening to stories. Wherever possible, we always try to accommodate those with mobility issues or disabilities and make our tours inclusive for everyone. Please let us know when you book if you have any disabilities or mobility issues.
🕯 Meet us at the large iron gates at the north-west corner of St James’ Cemetery (directly opposite the junction of Upper Duke Street and Cathedral Gate).
Please note — this is the only entrance used for our tour.
Do not go to the south entrance of the cemetery (near Upper Parliament Street), as that is the opposite end of the park and more than a ten-minute walk away.

Please aim to arrive ten minutes before the tour begins, so that we have time to gather the group and check everyone’s tickets.
Once the tour starts, we’re unable to answer phone calls or messages, as we’ll be performing and guiding the group.
We have a ZERO-TOLERANCE policy on alcohol consumption and disruptive behaviour.
We will lock you in a tomb if we have to! ☠️
It can be chilly down in the cemetery at this time of year — please wrap up warm!
Remember: there’s no such thing as bad weather, only inappropriate clothing!
The atmosphere in St James’ Cemetery when it’s raining is one of our absolute favourites — bring a brolly and/or a mac, and we promise you won’t regret it.
Please don’t wear high heels; comfortable, practical shoes are strongly advised.
There are no toilets in a Victorian Cemetery, so please go before you set off!
If you have a weak bladder, we recommend avoiding drinks for at least 45–60 minutes before the tour begins.
