This tour follows a set route and includes turn-by-turn directions. It works best if you start it in the right place and follow the directions from one location to the next. When the download completes, you’ll see a screen with a photo of the starting point and directions to it. The red start button will become active when you are at the starting point.

Along the route, there are many restaurants and bars. For lunch, I'd recommend Poules Moules restaurant which is right next to the track and is known for its mussels. For a longer stop to enjoy dinner with traditional food, try Bagientje which is about 300 metres away from the stop at Minnewater.

Stopping for a beer is best done at one of the 2 breweries along the route. The Half Moon Brewery or the Bourgogne des Flandres Brewery. To explore more beer after the tour, cellar bar Le Trappiste can be recommended.

There are two museums that are worth stopping for. At the Gruuthuse museum (stop at Gruuthusepalace) you can visit a whole lot of medieval findings and information inside the palace. At the Groeninge museum, you can behold the paintings of the Flemish primitives.

The best time to do this tour is between 8am and 6pm. After 6.30pm the beguinage is closed. However, in the evening Bruges gets quiet and is light up by spotlights so you can for sure enjoy the tour at later times as well.

Bruges is a very safe city. You can walk alone in any neighbourhood in the center during day and night. As a pedestrian, you have to watch out for the horse carriages. They keep going just like most of the local bike riders. If you keep walking on the sidewalk you should be ok.
