Visit the colorful and historic Old Town Alexandria and the historic former home of George Washington on this unmissable fully-guided tour of the two! Walk in the footsteps of Washington with this sensational five-hour excursion from the capital!
You’ll be picked up in a luxurious, climate-controlled vehicle while your guide explains the significance of some of the city’s most recognizable monuments. A short drive brings you to the candy-colored architecture of Alexandria, where you can take a tour of some monuments notable to the former president – including the Masonic Temple and Christ Church.
Arguably the birthplace of the city itself, George Washington’s former estate is located just 13 miles from the capital’s center. The second half of this tour involves a guided tour of the mansion, with entrance tickets to the mansion and gardens included. Interactive, historic reenactments bring the founding father’s story to life, while a guided tour of the grounds helps shine a light on his fascinating story.
Please note: The entire block has the address 701 Pennsylvania Ave NW. Uber drivers and GPS often bring people to the building on the edge of the plaza on D St SW.
We check-in guests in the plaza across from the escalator entrance to the Archives Metro Station. If you find yourself at an office building called Market Square, please circle the block to find us in the plaza on the other side of the building.
Please arrive 15 minutes early!
We highly recommend using public transportation like the Metro to get to our tours as we depart from directly outside the Archives metro station in the Navy Memorial Plaza. This is not far from both city center stations - Metro Center & Gallery Place. For all those driving, we recommend using the garage below the plaza with an entrance on 8th St NW but we advise all to use discretion as this and many other garages are privately owned with fluctuating prices and specific hours. Our night tour for example returns AFTER the 8th St garage closes so be aware. Use this resource provided by the city's tourism bureau for additional assistance.
Wheelchair accommodation:
Currently, our vehicles are not equipped with lifts, ramps, or other ADA-compliant features. If you are bringing a foldable wheelchair, mobility scooter, or walker, your driver will prepare an area inside the bus where your mobility devices will be stored. You will be required to board and disembark the bus on your own or with the assistance of a traveling companion.
Please feel free to contact us if any questions!
