With only essentials in tow, you’ll commence the 17.7-mile trek towards Inversnaid’s Bunkhouse, immersing yourself in the rich history of the region, including tales of the legendary Rob Roy MacGregor.
As you traverse the landscape, highlights include a detour to Primrose Hill, offering breathtaking vistas of Loch Katrine and the majestic Arrochar Alps looming in the distance. Along the route, you’ll encounter landmarks such as the MacGregor cemeteries, Rob Roy’s birthplace, Factors Island, Loch Arklet, and Inversnaid’s Garrison, before finally arriving at the enchanting Inversnaid’s Bunkhouse for a cozy night’s rest and delectable meals.
Rise and shine to a hearty breakfast before embarking on the remaining 14.3-mile stretch towards Balmaha. Meandering through picturesque woodlands, the trail unveils stunning views of Loch Lomond, inviting moments of tranquility to soak in the beauty of the surroundings. En route to Balmaha, explore the historic Rowchoish Bothy and the intriguing ruins that dot the landscape, offering glimpses into bygone eras.
Concluding the day’s adventures, dine together at Balmaha’s Oak Tree Inn, reflecting on the memorable hike before the final leg of the journey back to Stirling, where fond farewells await.
