The Borders boasts four magnificent ruined Medieval abbeys which date back to the 12th century: Jedburgh, Kelso, Melrose & Dryburgh. We will visit both Dryburgh, the burial place of Sir Walter Scott, and Melrose with it's romantic cloisters and grounds, where a recently discovered casket is believed to contain the heart of Robert the Bruce.
The picturesque town of Melrose is located next to the Eildon Hills and is the birthplace of Rugby Sevens. Take a stroll through this delightful town, unmissable for a touch of retail therapy!
Enjoy a traditional pub lunch.
Around 3 miles west of Melrose, on the banks of the Tweed is Sir Walter Scott's romantic mansion of Abbotsford. This magnificent house and spectacular gardens are spectacular and very, very special.
