Royal Mint Tour & Exhibition

The Royal Mint Experience in Llantrisant, South Wales, offers a guided tour that shows how the Mint has changed over its 1,100-year history. The tour includes a look at the Mint’s new projects, such as its precious metal recovery technology, which extracts gold and other metals from old electronics. You’ll also see historic and rare coins, from Edward VIII’s coinage to pieces over a thousand years old, along with commemorative coins that mark royal events and popular culture. Since ending overseas circulating coin production in 2024, the Mint has invested over £17 million into new areas, including the jewellery brand 886, sustainable gold recovery, and precious metal investment. At the end of the tour, you can strike your own UK coin (at your own expense) and visit the exhibition, which features Olympic medals, Isaac Newton’s notes, and stories from the Tower of London. A café and gift shop are also available.
