The Three Hampdens Walking Tour

Football's Square Mile? Completed it mate!

About

I have partnered with The Hampden Collection to bring you the best football walking tour on the planet! We call it 'Football's Square Mile' .

'Football's Square Mile' is the World’s biggest ‘Open Air’ football museum in the South Side of Glasgow. Our ‘Open Air’ museum stretches across Queens Park, Crosshill and Mount Florida. The Queens Park Recreation Ground and The Three Hampden Parks (soon to be four) are the ‘cradle’ of the modern passing and running game of football. This brand of football, developed by the Scots over centuries, is now enjoyed by over 3.5 billion people around the World.

There is nothing like this in the world!

During your time with us you will be entertained and wow'd by the story of football, the birth of our beautiful game, its modernisation, its success and, indeed, its failures.

An experienced & knowledgable tour guide will inform & entertain you with incredible & revolutionary stories. On this walking tour you will visit:

  • Queens Park Recreation Ground
  • The Hampden Bowling Club (First Hampden Park) - The 1st Hampden Mural (Scotland 5 - 1 England, 11th March 1882)

Attention

I’M RUNNING LATE. WHAT DO I DO?

We strongly suggest that you turn up at least 10 minutes before the tour is due to start. There may be some leeway to wait a few minutes but we cannot guarantee this. However you will be able to catch up as the walking tour covers a shorter distance than you'd think. You should be able to spot us in the distance.

ARE TOURS EVER CANCELLED BECAUSE OF BAD WEATHER?

Unless the Met Office has issued a warning of severe gales and advised against travel then tours will take place. Heavy rain or wind will not halt the tours. If you are unsure, you can get in touch with us using the contact form at the bottom of the page.

WHERE DO WE MEET?

We meet at the skateboard park opposite Hotel 10 on the Queens Park Recreation Ground. There is some parking there but you can also park on adjacent streets.

WHERE DOES THE TOUR END?

The tour will end at Hampden Park - the current national stadium. You can disperse from there or follow the guides back to the starting point to collect your vehicle. Additionally, we recommend you to go to a Queens Park game. You can find tickets here: https://queensparkfc.co.uk/match-day-tickets/.
