What's it like to be Danish today? What was it like to be danish before? At Frilandsmuseet, the Open Air Museum of Denmark, you'll be transported back in time to a time of gravel roads, farmhouses and people of the past, all to explore the country of Denmark and its historical roots. On our way to Frialndsmuseet, a.k.a. Denmark's history, we'll ensure you're also introduced to today's Copenhagen with a scenic drive covering all the main sights and stories of the Danish capital. This is our Copenhagen & Frilandsmuseet Private Driving Tour, after all!
Heading straight for the Copenhagen suburb where Frilandsmuseet is located, we'll pop our heads into a few well-selected houses. The buildings are fully furnished with traditional interiors, handcrafted furniture, details, and designs from the worker's home and the poorhouse of inmates to the village weaver and the wealthy miller. Would you believe us if we said that the buildings are all original? All 50(!) of them were disassembled at their original locations and reassembled at the museum.
From history to customs and culture, as we travel back to Copenhagen to discover the inner city, we'll share facts about Danish traditions and where they originated. Making sure we see all of Copenhagen's highlights, we'll tick off the city's many palaces, including Amalienborg and Christiansborg Palace, as well as Rosenborg Castle. Along with the Copenhagen City Hall, the Little Mermaid and Black Diamond, to mention a few.
After a few hours of indulging yourself in Danish history through the ages, we hope you'll feel thoroughly acquainted with the country, city and people.
