You’ll start your climb while it’s still dark with the only light coming from your head torch and the moon. Safely accompanied by your friendly mountain guide you’ll arrive at the summit in time to watch the sun rise in front of you.
We run our sunrise group hikes throughout the summer or if you want to make a private booking we’ll also offer alternate route choices. We’ll chat to you in advance and ensure you’ve got the right gear for an enjoyable day out. On the day you’ll meet your Snowdon guide at the start point who’ll lead you safely to the summit (and back again!) and supply you with entertaining facts and bad jokes along the way.
Whether you’re doing it for charity, with a group of friends, as a family outing or just for your own pleasure MountainXperience will take the hassle out of planning your adventure and keep you safe on the day. You’ll only meet qualified and experienced mountain guides who are fully insured and hold up-to-date first aid certificates to ensure your safety. We’ve been exploring Snowdonia’s mountains for over a decade and we love nothing more than sharing them with you.
If you’re ready to book your Snowdon sunrise ascent with MountainXperience, simply choose your preferred date from our live availability calendar and our booking partners FareHarbor will arrange everything for you.
Look out for your MountainXperience guide waiting for you by the picnic benches on the concourse in front of the Snowdon Mountain Railway Station.
Thanks for booking on our Snowdon Sunrise adventure! We're really excited to meet you and take you on this amazing adventure.
This message contains some important information you might find useful.
Where do we need to meet?
Please meet your guide by the picnic benches on the concourse outside the Snowdon Mountain Railway station in Llanberis.
There are a few car parks around the railway station but be sure to pay for your parking and check any conditions (ie overnight parking). The large car park opposite doesn’t allow overnight parking so the community centre 100m away or the village car parks another 100m away are your best options.
What time should we be there?
Please aim to arrive 10-15 minutes before the activity start time. This gives your guide the opportunity to check you've got everything you need and for you to ask any questions. Check your booking confirmation for your exact start time.
What do we need to bring with us?
We’re going to be out walking for anywhere between five and eight hours so you’ll need food and water to last you. I recommend a variety of snacks rather than a big lunch and a minimum of one litre of water per person. There won't be any shops open locally when you start walking.
Please have a look at the weather before setting off and dress accordingly. Better to have an extra fleece and wooly hat in your bag just in case. Temperatures are typically 10°C colder at the summit than at the start point. If it’s a wet day then you’ll need waterproofs too. Remember you're going to be at the summit in the very early hours of the morning and it's going to be very cold so remember to have a warm coat and a hot drink with you. You'll also need a head torch.

Is there a book I could buy that will tell me everything I need to know about climbing my first mountain?
What a great question. Yes there is! And it's written by me :) Visit https://www.howtoclimbamountain.uk to find out more and get your signed copy.
What about toilets?
There are public toilets in the village a short walk away from the meeting point however they're generally locked overnight. Please be sure to go before we set off in the morning. The summit visitor centre and its toilets won't be open whilst you're there.
Do you have any tips in advance of the day?
We sure do - have a look at these useful blog posts:
Do we need to let you know about any medical issues?
Yes please. If there's something you think your guide should be aware of please get in touch or have a quiet word on the day.
What if we still have a question?
Please get in touch and ask and I’ll happily help. You can email me at hello@mountainxperience.uk or call or WhatsApp me on 01248 614120.
